FCCO’s 30th Anniversary!

We’re Celebrating Community-Supported Spay/Neuter for Feral Cats from 1995 - 2025

Back when ice skater Tonya Harding was practicing for the Olympics at Clackamas Town Center in 1994, a group of local veterinarians were occupied with a different kind of challenge. Their research led them to determine that a trap-neuter-return program was the only effective way to reduce feral cat populations in the area. In March 1995 these veterinarians founded the Feral Cat Coalition of Portland (FCCP).

FCCP started with $1,000 from private donors, 15 surgical packs, and an anesthesia machine donated from the local animal control. At the first clinic, held June 25, 1995, they spayed/neutered 16 cats in an all-day effort.

Thirty years and 140,000 cats later we honor our founders’ efforts and dedication, as well as that of our volunteers, supporters, and all of the caregivers who look after our communities' feral cats daily.

We hope you will join us throughout the year as we celebrate FCCO's 30th Anniversary!

Details about the following events will be coming later:

  • GeoCatting: June 1 - 25

  • Open House: June 25 at FCCO

  • Clinic Tours: July 30 and October 30

We are purring with thanks for all the generosity, kindness, and efforts to help the cats over the past 30 years!
